Introduction of refining slag:

Refining slag is a technology used to mix raw materials in a certain proportion and particle size, and then heat them under the condition of lower melting point, so as to make raw materials sinter together and then break into particle size. The main components are Cao CaF2, CaO-Al2O3 and CaO-Al2O3-SiO2. The main components of the slag are sintering, pre melting and mixing.

The composition of sintered refining slag is more uniform, stable, and the melting speed is faster, but the cost is relatively increased. Because of the small density of sintering slag and many pores, it is easy to cause the suction in the refining process.

The pre melting refining slag refers to the refining slag which is used for steelmaking after mixing the raw materials in a certain proportion, melting the raw materials into liquid state at high temperature and higher than the melting point temperature of slag system in special equipment. The pre melting refining slag has high purity, uniform chemical composition, stable phase, low melting point, fast slag forming speed, can greatly shorten refining time and can be directly used for slag washing during ladle tapping process of converter, and improve the cleanliness of steel. And no fluorine or a small amount of fluorine, reduce the lining erosion, effectively reduce the fluorine pollution to the environment. Because of its compact structure and non water absorption, the slag is easy to store, transport and store, not powdered and volatile, which can significantly reduce dust pollution in steel plants, but the production cost is high.

Application of refining slag:

Before tapping, the refining slag is put into the ladle, because the molten steel flows into the ladle from the high level, it is the violent stirring between the molten steel and the refining slag, and the refining slag melts rapidly in the molten steel, and then accumulates and floats. Because of the strong reducibility of refining slag, it has a strong ability of deoxidation and desulfurization, which can remove oxygen and sulfur impurities in molten steel during the mixing process.
